Lisa A. Gennetian is Senior Research Director, Policy Evaluation Project, in the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution. Her research focuses on poverty, income security policies, and child care, and their influences on children’s development.
The New Hope program was designed to assist workers by providing work supports including access to quality child care and health insurance. This paper evaluates the program and provides recommendations for scaling it up nationally.
