Duration of Unemployment, 1980-2010
November 5, 2010
Out-of-work Americans today remain unemployed longer than workers of any recent recession. As of October 2010, half of all unemployed workers had been unemployed for more than 21 weeks. Furthermore, recent data indicates a quarter of the unemployed had been out of work for more than a year and 10 percent have been unemployed for at least two years.
