High School and College Completion and Spending per Pupil
February 25, 2011
Over the past 30 years, high school and college completion rates have stagnated, even as real education spending per student at the primary and secondary school levels has continued to rise. Since the late 1970s, the percentage of Americans aged 25 to 34 who have completed high school has barely increased. Over the same period, the proportion of Americans between 25 and 34 who have completed college increased by only 8 percentage points, compared to the nearly 19 percent increase that occurred between 1950 and 1980.
