The Hamilton Project • Press Release/Media Advisory • November 28, 2011

What:   Training America's Workforce for the Future: New Policies to Boost Employment and Wages

When:   Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 9:30 am – 1:00 pm

Where: Washington Court Hotel, 525 New Jersey Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001

Who:     A diverse group of policy leaders, stakeholders and training experts will participate in the forum to share a range of perspectives, including White House Council of Economic Advisers Chair Alan Krueger, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.), and Siemens President and CEO Eric Spiegel.

Background:  On November 30th, The Hamilton Project at Brookings will host a forum and release new policy proposals on training programs geared toward the needs of today’s workforce.  In a rapidly- changing global economy, the skills of some workers have become less valuable, while other skills are in short supply.  By collaborating with industry partners and drawing on evidence about what works, training programs can better prepare workers for jobs in growing industries.

The new policy proposals will be available on The Hamilton Project website at 9:00 a.m. ET on November 30th.  A summary of the papers is attached.
