A Financial Times story features a new Hamilton Project discussion paper proposing the creation of a Dislocation Workers Training (DWT) program to distribute grants to displaced workers so they can obtain longer-term training to substantially increase their earnings. The value of the grants would be tied to the earnings gap between a worker’s old job and any new job they take on to keep their family fed while they complete their studies. The DWT Program would also leverage the nation’s One-Stop Career Centers to assess and counsel grantees. Read the full article here and learn more about the proposal here.
