Bruce V. Rauner Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School and John F. Kennedy School of Government

Leemore Dafny is the Bruce V. Rauner Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School, where she teaches courses in healthcare strategy and co-directs to PhD Program in Business Economics. Dr. Dafny also serves on the faculties of the John F. Kennedy School of Government and the interdisciplinary Program in Health Policy.

Dafny’s research focuses on competitive interactions between payers and providers of healthcare services, with an emphasis on antitrust, competitive strategy, and public policy. She also studies competition in pharmaceutical markets. Dafny has published in academic journals such as The American Economic Review and The New England Journal of Medicine, and her findings have been featured in popular media such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

In 2012-2013, Dafny served as Deputy Director for Health Care and Antitrust at the FTC’s Bureau of Economics. Currently, Dafny is a Research Associate of the NBER, a Board member of the American Society of Health Economists and the Health Care Cost Institute, and serves on the Panel of Health Advisers to the Congressional Budget Office. She has testified on competition issues to both houses of Congress, and advises companies, government agencies, and nonprofits on a variety of issues including antitrust matters, strategic decisions, and public policy.

Dafny graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College and worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Company prior to earning her PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
