Aviva Aron-Dine is the director of The Hamilton Project and a senior fellow in Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution. Prior to joining the Brookings Institution, she served as the acting assistant secretary for tax policy at the U.S. Treasury Department, leading a team of around 120 staff responsible for developing and implementing federal tax policies. Previously, she served as a deputy assistant to the president and deputy director of the National Economic Council (NEC), leading the NEC’s fiscal policy work, and as the executive associate director and acting deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). She has also served as the vice president for health policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, as a senior counselor to the secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services, as chief economist of OMB, and as a special assistant to the president at the NEC. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. in philosophy from Swarthmore College.
