Michael O’Mary is a managing director of D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. and co-head of the D. E. Shaw group’s Fundamental Equities investment unit. In that capacity, Mr. O’Mary oversees that unit’s investment, risk management, and trading activities. He joined the D. E. Shaw group in a full-time capacity in 2007. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. O’Mary served as a corporate affairs manager at Citizens Financial Group, Inc, as a special assistant to President Lawrence Summers of Harvard University and as the business manager at Project Place, a non-profit social service agency in Boston. From 1997 to 1998, Mr. O’Mary was a researcher in the White House Office of First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. In addition, he served on two national political campaigns for the U.S. presidency: Vice President Al Gore’s primary and general election campaign and as national trip director for Governor Howard Dean’s primary run. Mr. O’Mary earned his A.B. and J.D. from Harvard Law School. He serves as treasurer on the board of trustees of Rye Country Day School and is a member of the advisory council of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
