On May 1, The Hamilton Project hosted a forum focusing on recent trends in crime and mass incarceration in the United States, as well as innovative methods for preventing youth violence. Panel discussants featured leading academic experts and policymakers, including Police Chief Dean Esserman of New Haven; Chief of Staff Cristine DeBerry for the District Attorney in the City and County of San Francisco; Robert Listenbee of the U.S. Department of Justice; Elizabeth Glazer of the Office of Criminal Justice for Mayor Bill de Blasio, among others.
